AI companies are racing to become partners with the U.S. government—backed, protected, and increasingly treated as too important to fail. In return, they offer the tools of surveillance, persuasion, control, and power.
The end game isn’t the U.S. turning into some kind of leisure world. It’s us entering a feudal surveillance state.
It’s a convenient partnership. The companies take the profits while the public takes the risk. If the promises don’t add up or the financial bubble bursts, who gets stuck with the bill?
And what exactly are we protecting? Companies that promise to eliminate jobs, consume enormous amounts of energy and resources, flood the world with disinformation, and build surveillance systems capable of following us and spying on every aspect of our lives?
We’re told this is progress. But progress for who?
Maybe the real product isn’t AI at all. Maybe it’s power—the consolidation of wealth and control in fewer and fewer hands, while everyone else is expected to adapt to living on scraps.
